BIC Compliance Analyst - Join the Law Firm of Cooley

Cooley, a leading international law firm, is seeking a BIC Compliance Analyst to join our Business Intake & Conflicts team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with risk management policies related to engagement letters, conflict waivers, and ethical screens. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and excellent benefits package.

H2: Responsibilities of a BIC Compliance Analyst at Cooley

- Timely tracking and follow-up on completion of new business requests for executed engagement letters and conflict of interest waiver letters
- Drafting, setting up, and maintaining ethical walls in the firm's database
- Analyzing, reviewing, and drafting database warnings and alerts
- Processing matter name changes and identifying potential conflicts through conflict reports and supporting documents
- Resolving outstanding requests from departing or departed timekeepers and secretaries
- Regularly interacting with partners to investigate and resolve potential issues
- Informing and advising attorneys and counsel of any special circumstances surrounding complicated forms
- Assisting with conflicts analysis and providing training for various professionals within the firm
- Conducting conflicts case law and legal ethics research
- Participating in proof-of-concept testing for new technologies or solutions
- Other duties as assigned or required

H2: Required Skills and Experience

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, iManage, and other firm applications after orientation
- Familiarity with IntApp Open and Contract Express or similar programs
- Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours as needed
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a law firm, legal environment, or conflicts department
- Knowledge of ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct and California State Bar Association's Rules of Professional Conduct
- Understanding of corporate law practice and experience conducting legal and corporate research

H2: Preferred Skills and Experience

- Bachelor's degree or JD
- Knowledge and experience with complete conflicts resolution
- Paralegal Certificate or completion of ethics course in a paralegal program
- Prior experience as a paralegal or legal researcher in a law firm

- Understanding of legal ethical rules and ability to handle time-sensitive matters

H2: Salary and Benefits Information

The expected hourly pay range for this position is - ($72, - $106, annually) based on a 40-hour work week. Final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate.
