Senior Legal Counsel, Cybersecurity - Remote

Introduction:
PayPal is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel, Cybersecurity to join their legal team. This role will contribute to a growing cybersecurity legal program, including managing data security incidents, providing guidance on cybersecurity and data protection issues, and assisting with regulatory submissions. The ideal candidate has at least three years of experience in data security, privacy, and governance, and a strong understanding of online technologies. This is a remote position, with locations available in San Jose, California; Chicago, Illinois; Scottsdale, Arizona; Omaha, Nebraska; New York City, New York; Washington DC, District of Columbia; and Austin, Texas.

Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a key subject matter expert and legal advisor in connection with data security incidents.
- Partner with product, business, compliance, and other global legal teams to proactively address regulatory guidance and issues.
- Collaborate with Compliance colleagues and the Global Privacy Office to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Advise on new and emerging legal and regulatory developments impacting global cybersecurity and data protection.
- Revise contracts and counsel stakeholders on contractual terms relating to data protection and cybersecurity.
- Develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of PayPal's core business and strong relationships with business counterparts.
- Model and coach others on leader behaviors including growth mindset, collaboration, action-bias, direct and empathetic communication.

Qualifications:
- JD degree with excellent academic credentials and 3+ years of relevant experience in-house or at a law firm.
- Cybersecurity subject matter expertise with tech regulation and experience of interaction with data privacy authorities and/or regulatory agencies.
- Knowledge of cutting edge IT, web, mobile, and payment ecosystem technologies and their privacy and data security implications.
- Demonstrated experience advising product teams on global privacy regulations and driving solutions cross-functionally.
- Excellent project management skills, well organized, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- A high-level of intellectual, professional and interpersonal agility and flexibility, combined with sound judgment.
- Team oriented, with ability to keep a cool head, empathy, and a sense of humor.
