Vice President, Underwriting
The candidate will support the implementation of Transactional Risk strategies by contributing to business development and growth through cultivating relationships with all key stakeholders and making informed underwriting decisions to enhance the profitability of the portfolio. Generate new business and ensure the overall profitability of the Transactional Risk Business. Review, evaluate and price business by applying underwriting judgment and adhering to guidelines. Identify and minimize risks through due diligence and escalation of issues when necessary. Review and analyze detailed financial statements, purchase agreements and transaction documents. Negotiate policy terms, conditions and pricing with clients and brokers. Stay current with market trends, emerging risks and evolving regulatory landscapes. Mentor junior underwriters to ensure efficient team performance. Comply with legal and regulatory requirements. Contribute to recording and measurement of insurance risks. Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders. Assist with improvements in underwriting practices. Research and obtain market intelligence to enhance profit goals. Contribute to special projects and business initiatives. A college degree is required (finance or economics preferred). An advanced degree or professional certification (JD, MBA, CFA, CPCU) would be a plus. Must have 3-5 years of experience in: transactional risk, mergers and acquisitions or financial services risk assessment. Should have exceptional analytical skills, deep financial knowledge, and the ability to structure sophisticated insurance solutions for high-value corporate transactions. Strong excel and data analytics skills are needed.
