**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is seeking an experienced attorney to join the Family Court Division as an Assistant Corporation Counsel (ACC). In this role, you will make a difference in the lives of youth by serving as the Presentment Agency in juvenile delinquency proceedings before the Family Court. You will have the opportunity to work on cases involving youth under 18 who have been arrested for conduct that would constitute a crime if they were adults, and help ensure the safety of the community while addressing the needs and best interests of the youth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry a caseload and handle all aspects of the practice in the Juvenile Delinquency Unit
- Conduct community outreach and engagement
- Investigate cases and conduct motion practice
- Conduct extensive discovery
- Litigate in court, including pre-trial hearings, trials, and dispositional hearings
- Draft cases and appear in the Youth Part of the Supreme Court as a Special Assistant District Attorney
- Participate in a citywide rotation of night and weekend court assignments
- Attend community events and meetings in the evening and weekend hours
Minimum Qualifications:
- Admitted and in good standing in New York
- Substantial experience in family court or criminal law
- Litigation experience
- Ability to work independently
- Strong litigation, oral, and written communication skills
- Excellent judgment
- Exceptional organizational abilities
- Strong leadership skills
- Solid knowledge of criminal law, the Family Court Act, and evidentiary issues
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Graduated from an ABA approved law school
- Admitted in good standing with the NYS bar
- Two (2) years of relevant experience preferred
