JOB DESCRIPTION
- Seeking a full-time Staff Attorney to work with the Health Consumer Center
- Provide advice, counsel, and representation to clients dealing with health systems and agencies
DUTIES
- Work with CCLS advocates to provide high-quality legal representation to clients
- Develop and maintain relationships with client groups and community-based service providers
- Identify and analyze systemic issues through individual and impact casework
- Participate in planning and strategy meetings with project partners and statewide networks of Legal Aid advocates
- Attend weekly case review meetings and stay updated on changes in the law
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Member in good standing of the State Bar of California or eligible to practice under the Registered Legal Services Attorney Program
- Experience working with low-income clients and collaborating with diverse groups
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients with communication barriers
- Previous experience with Legal Aid or non-profit legal services is desirable
- Bilingual ability in Hmong/English or Spanish/English is strongly preferred
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure, on a team or independently, and a passion for the work
- Commitment to client rights and empowerment
- Must pass a background check with the California Department of Managed Health Care
- Ability to travel as needed and proof of liability and property insurance on vehicle used
