This large full service firm is very women-oriented, and it has created many benefits to appeal particularly to women, including flexible work arrangements and 12-week paid maternity leave. Many of the firm’s attorneys are active in many community, professional and civic matters. Associates receive in-house training in a variety of areas and early client contact and hands-on experience. There is a “business casual” dress code, but associates are expected to keep professional clothing at the office in case of short notice meetings. All associates are expected to spend at least 50 hours annually on pro bono, and this is part of their billable hour expectation of 1800.
Discovery Staff Attorney The candidate will report to the eDiscovery Counsel, Chair of the Discovery Practice Group. Assess the discovery needs of assigned litigation matters, identify potential issues and devise a plan for cost-effective compliance that leverages the skills of the paralegal team and the firm's discovery managed services vendor. Conduct data preservation interviews, draft preservation protocols, devise preservation notice distribution and tracking plans and assist with monitoring preservation compliance. Oversee data collection and ensure sound transfer of data. Prepare supporting materials and outlines for discovery conferences, participating when needed. Draft and review written discovery including format of production specifications and appropriate objections. Participate in and manage document reviews including training and supervising contract attorneys and document review teams and Coordinate document productions and the creation of privilege logs. Should have large law firm experience helping a variety of clients, large and small, comply with discovery obligations. Should also have significant experience leveraging discovery software and managing teams of legal professionals on discovery projects, and prior employment with a discovery vendor or as in-house counsel is a plus. Excellent academic credentials and strong written and oral communication skills are required. Bar admission in Connecticut, New Jersey or New York, or willingness to become admitted in one of these jurisdictions, is required.
