Are you a strategic and dynamic leader with a passion for data protection and privacy? Do you have experience in managing privacy risks and compliance in a rapidly changing regulatory environment? If so, GEICO has an exciting opportunity for you as our Director of Privacy Management.
As the Director of Privacy Management, you will play a critical role in shaping and overseeing our privacy policies and incident response practices. You will work cross-functionally with various teams to align business objectives with privacy goals and ensure compliance with privacy laws and regulations. Your leadership and expertise will be key in promoting a culture of data protection and trust within our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain GEICO's privacy program, including policies, processes, and governance structures, to comply with applicable laws and regulations.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate privacy risks across our operations, ensuring proper documentation and effective mitigation plans.
- Oversee compliance with data protection laws, monitor regulatory developments, and incorporate changes into our policies and operations.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to respond to privacy incidents, ensuring prompt reporting and remediation steps.
- Lead training programs and awareness campaigns to educate employees on privacy practices and their responsibilities under privacy laws.
- Partner with internal teams to embed privacy-by-design principles into our processes and offerings.
- Assess and monitor third-party vendors for privacy compliance and ensure appropriate contractual protections and security measures are in place.
- Provide regular updates to executive leadership on the status of our privacy program, risk profiles, and incident responses.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in law, business, information systems, or related field.
- Certification in privacy management (., CIPP, CIPT, or CDPSE).
- At least 10 years of experience in privacy, data protection, legal, or compliance, including leadership roles.
- In-depth knowledge of privacy laws and frameworks, including GLBA, CCPA, and NYDFS Cyber Reg 500.
- Strong understanding of data governance and data security principles.
- Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional teams and driving privacy initiatives in complex organizations.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in the insurance, financial services, or technology industry.
- Advanced degree (., JD, MBA, or Master's in Data Privacy).
- Proven success in managing privacy incident responses and regulatory inquiries.
- Familiarity with privacy-enhancing technologies and tools.
- Passion for fostering a privacy-first organizational culture.
Salary Information:
- Annual salary range: $140, - $300, (final salary will be determined based on various factors).
- Benefits may vary by location and eligibility requirements.
