Job Summary:
We are currently seeking an Immigration Assistant to join our team. This role involves working closely with attorneys and case managers to prepare, file, and monitor various immigration and legal matters. The successful candidate will have excellent career-pathing opportunities, with the potential to grow into a paralegal or other roles within our firm.
Responsibilities:
- Support Paralegals, Senior Paralegals, and Attorneys through email and phone communications.
- Provide guidance to assignees on proprietary systems and case processing.
- Develop an understanding of client communication procedures and requirements.
- Input client services and send to Accounting for processing.
- Learn procedures and documentation requirements for various case types and execute case processing tasks.
- Process basic corporate immigration cases.
- Proactively escalate concerns to appropriate team members.
- Utilize templates and prepared materials when completing documents for attorney review.
- Manage status of all filed applications and petitions and finalize documents after attorney review.
- Utilize document and data management systems to prepare, monitor, and record all aspects of client casework.
- Prepare internal caseload reports for management.
- Share process flow with assignees.
- Conduct research to obtain information such as background on a company or industry, current wages, and processing procedures.
- Initiate contact with government agencies to obtain necessary information.
- Alert Senior Paralegal and/or attorney regarding potential process delays or problems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or 2 years of related business experience.
- Superb organizational skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and take actions independently.
- Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to proofread and edit one's own work product.
- General computer knowledge and typing skills.
- Professional and respectful attitude towards coworkers.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in MS Office, scanning, copying, and the ability to learn new software.
Working Conditions:
- Able to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time.
- Able to perform general office administrative activities.
- Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Regular and on-time attendance.
- Must be able to prioritize, schedule, and complete testing for multiple applications.
- May be required to work more than 40 hours per week.
- Some travel may be required.
