Associate - Affordable Housing

Job Responsibilities:
The individual in this role will be joining the Affordable Housing team at the law firm, which is nationally recognized for its work in the sector. The team collaborates with for-profit and nonprofit developers, investors, and governmental entities to engage in a variety of tasks, including the development, acquisition, construction, financing, operation, and preservation of housing primarily in Texas and other locations across the United States. Key responsibilities include:
- Handling affordable housing transactions with a focus on finance, development, and incentives.
- Managing various types of affordable housing transactions, such as LIHTC closings (both 4% and 9% transactions), refinancing, acquisitions, dispositions, and exits.
- Representing different stakeholders in transactions, including developers, syndicators/investors, and lenders, although experience with all is preferred but not mandatory.
- Engaging in up-front planning and issue spotting, along with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating transaction documents.
- Conducting necessary due diligence to support transactions.
- Managing projects from inception to completion and directly interacting with clients and opposing parties.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must possess:
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant law firm experience, particularly focused on affordable housing transactions.
- A strong academic record with a Juris Doctor (.) degree from a nationally recognized and accredited law school.
- Demonstrated professional commitment and interpersonal skills necessary for success in a collaborative team environment.
- The capability to lead deals and interface with sophisticated and demanding clients.
- The ability to work in high-pressure, fast-paced environments and meet tight deadlines.
- Clear and concise communication skills, both orally and in writing, with clients and team members.
