Are you a law school student looking to gain hands-on experience in the courtroom? Look no further! The Public Defender's Office is offering a 2L/3L Certified Internship for the Fall Semester. This internship is an excellent opportunity for students who are passionate about public defense and want to make a difference in the lives of their clients.

As a certified intern, you will have the exciting opportunity to represent clients in court under the supervision of a licensed public defender. This internship is certified by the Colorado Supreme Court, allowing students to practice in court as if they were licensed attorneys. This is a demanding and rigorous internship that will give you the necessary skills and experience to excel in your future public defender career.

The internship will begin with a weeklong training program to prepare you for your caseload of misdemeanor, traffic, or juvenile delinquency cases. You will have the chance to conduct pre-trial and post-trial hearings, and even participate in jury trials. This hands-on experience will give you a comprehensive understanding of the legal system and the role of a public defender.

We understand the importance of gaining real-world experience while still in law school. That's why our fall semester internships are longer than the summer session, giving you the opportunity to establish and exercise a new set of skills that will benefit your future career. Many of our summer interns choose to stay on for the fall semester to see their clients' cases through to completion.
