The **** is a member-based organization that works to advance the rule of law in the United States and globally. They are currently seeking a Legal Assistant to provide administrative and legal support to their ProBAR project in Texas, which serves immigrants in the Rio Grande Valley and Houston regions. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience in a legal setting, be fluent in English and Spanish, and have a high school diploma or GED. The salary for this position ranges from $37, - $43,, and the ABA offers a generous benefits package including 401(k), medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a complimentary membership to the American Bar Association.
The Legal Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative support to the office, including typing, filing, and preparing routine reports. They will also be involved in assisting with legal filings, translating documents, and organizing case files. The position may require regular interaction with individuals who have experienced trauma, and the ability to pick up on verbal and non-verbal cues is important.
