H2: Essential Functions and Additional Duties
- Responsible for preparing and prosecuting legal actions against persons charged with violating criminal laws in Rockdale County.
- Manages a large trial calendar of felony, misdemeanor, traffic, and juvenile cases.
- Analyzes and prepares cases for disposition, conducts jury selection, and argues motions in court.
- Determines appropriate bonds for accused individuals and provides statutorily mandated notices to crime victims.
- Provides direction and guidance to investigative and administrative members of an assigned trial unit.
- Prepares cases for trial, negotiates pleas with defense counsel, and makes recommendations for sentencing.
- May be expected to perform any related duties as required by the District Attorney or other proper authority.

As an Assistant District Attorney for the 24 District Attorney in Conyers, GA, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that justice is served in Rockdale County. Your responsibilities will include preparing and prosecuting legal actions against individuals charged with violating criminal laws, managing a large trial calendar, and providing direction and guidance to investigative and administrative members of your assigned trial unit. Your knowledge of State, Federal, and local laws related to criminal law, as well as your skills in legal research and drafting legal documents, will be essential in your role. In order to excel in this position, you must have a law degree and be licensed to practice law in the State of Georgia. Preference will be given to candidates with at least one year of litigation experience. As an employee of the 24 District Attorney, you will be expected to perform your duties within the guidelines of the State of Georgia, Federal constitutions, and Georgia State Law. You will work closely with the District Attorney and Chief Assistant District Attorney in terms of department goals, objectives, and priorities.
