Job Title: Director of Client Development - Emerging Companies & Venture Capital (Hybrid)

Job Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with partners and business services professionals to lead business development and marketing for emerging companies, venture funds, and other investors in technology and early-stage companies.
- Assist partners in winning new clients and expanding relationships with existing clients in the Emerging Companies/Venture Capital (EC/VC) space.
- Coordinate with partners to develop and facilitate the law firm's nationwide brand for EC/VC.
- Set targets and achieve measurable results, including converting qualified leads to clients and assisting clients in securing investor introductions and meetings.
- Ensure a collaborative and productive relationship with the law firm's business development and marketing professionals for alignment and coordination across all activities.
- Source new client pitches and service existing clients, including reviewing client decks and providing business-level guidance based on market intel and experience.
- Participate in developing and redefining business development and marketing strategies for the EC/VC and other requested practices.
- Act as an ambassador for the law firm and participate in marketing efforts for the EC/VC practice.
- Lead marketing and business development plans for the EC/VC practice.
- Identify and participate in trade shows and conferences to help develop and facilitate the law firm's nationwide brand for the EC/VC practice.
- Coordinate meetings with the nationwide EC/VC practice to establish goals, identify opportunities, and report on progress.
- Collaborate with the "HK Deal Flow" team on client deals and matters related to EC/VC clients.
- Work with existing law firm teams to develop and improve processes and systems.
- Establish and maintain processes for regularly reporting progress relative to targets and budgets.
- Collaborate with local and global marketing colleagues, aligning efforts with the law firm's and practice area priorities.
- Work with the law firm's pitch and proposal team to develop customized pitches/RFPs and attend meetings with clients and potential clients alongside law firm lawyers.
- Conduct after-the-fact analysis of business development meetings to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Coach partners and designated associates on business development, demonstrating knowledge and understanding of the law firm's various practice groups and industry norms.
- Maintain a strong regional and national contact base and access to alumni, local associations, and industry associations.
- Collaborate with the law firm's research services group to gather competitive intelligence and research prospective clients.
- Handle special projects and duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Information:

- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in business development or a related role.
- Proven track record of successful project management.
- Strong proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to travel as needed.

Salary Information:

- The position may be filled in New York or California, with base salary ranges listed below. These ranges may not be applicable to other locations. An individual's actual compensation will depend on qualifications and experience. In addition to base compensation, the law firm provides bonus opportunities and an exceptional benefits package.
- New York City: $214,000 - $321,000 per year
- California: $214,000 - $321,000 per year
