Netflix is seeking an experienced business and legal affairs executive with extensive sports expertise to join their team as Counsel for Nonfiction and Sports. This individual will play a crucial role in the acquisition, development, and production of Netflix's Nonfiction slate, including live and recorded sports and events.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all legal affairs facets of in-house and third-party productions, including drafting and negotiating agreements, handling production-legal and clearance issues, and providing general legal and production counsel support for Nonfiction projects.
- Use extensive sports expertise to handle business and legal affairs elements related to live and recorded sports and events, such as drafting deal terms and agreements.
- Communicate effectively with productions, producers, talent representatives, and various departments within the company.
- Provide in-house support or act as outside production counsel for a network, streaming service, sports league/organization, or production company specializing in live sports and events.
- Utilize knowledge of relevant areas of law and customary business practices for Nonfiction productions, sports, and events.
Requirements:
- At least six (6) years of experience in business and legal affairs, specifically in the development, production, and licensing of live and recorded sports and events.
- . (or international equivalent) and membership in good standing in at least one state bar.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong analytical capabilities and judgment.
- Ability to work proactively, independently, and reliably under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to tackle matters outside of expertise.
Salary Information:
- Compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary, with no bonuses.
- Range for this role is $200,000 - $380,000.
- Employees have the option to choose how much of their compensation is in salary versus stock options.
