Opportunities for College and Graduate Students
- Investigator interns assist with a variety of tasks, including locating and interviewing witnesses, serving subpoenas, and conducting field investigations
- Graduate students in fields such as social work can apply for specialized unit internships, including Recovery Court and Mental Health Advocacy
- Internship opportunities also available for paralegal students
How to Apply
- Submit a cover letter explaining why you are seeking an internship with NJOPD, your practice area(s) of interest, geographic preference or limitations, and availability
- Applications must be received between June 15th and July 31st (Fall), between October 15th and November 30th (Spring), or between December 15th and April 15th (Summer)
- Applicants must also complete an interview, confidentiality and ethics paperwork, and be screened and approved prior to being offered an internship
About NJOPD
- Provides first class legal representation to indigent individuals at both the trial and appellate levels
- Represents individuals charged with criminal offenses, as well as those involved in cases of abuse and neglect, involuntary commitment, sex offenses, and post-conviction relief
- Also offers representation in specialized programs such as Recovery Court and Intensive Supervision Program, and has a Forensic Science Unit
