Overview:
- Seeking a talented attorney for a Corporate Counsel position on the US-based HQ team of Amazon Web Services Professional Services.
- Responsibilities include structuring, drafting, and negotiating complex commercial agreements, providing legal counseling in various areas, and serving as lead counsel on strategic deals.
- Travel may be required.

Responsibilities:
- Structuring, drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, including technology, distribution, licensing and marketing contracts.
- Providing ongoing legal counseling in a wide range of legal areas, such as intellectual property, digital media and regulatory compliance.
- Product or service counseling support.
- Serving as lead counsel and directly advising business clients on strategic deals.
- Resolving issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of legal experience.
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent.
- Experience in transactional and technology licensing or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work.
- 3+ years' experience in a top national or international law firm.
- In-house experience is a plus.
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
- Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through, and meet deadlines.
Compensation:
- Base pay ranges from $138,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market.
- Pay is based on factors such as market location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
- Total compensation package may include equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation in addition to medical, financial, and other benefits.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of legal experience.
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent.
- Experience in transactional and technology licensing or equivalent.
- Ability to travel, both domestic and international.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
