The Senior Counsel, Employment Law is a key role within GEICO's in-house Legal team. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations, as well as providing counsel and advice on employment risk mitigation. The successful candidate will have at least 8 years of relevant experience in a large in-house legal department, law firm, government, or HR/Employee Relations role.

Salary Information:
- Annual salary range: $162, - $274,

Job Responsibilities:
- Drive enterprise-wide compliance with labor and employment laws
- Partner with internal stakeholders on resolving employee issues
- Provide counsel and advice on preventing employment law risk
- Manage and resolve external escalations with Litigation and Investigations team
- Lead or support legal due diligence for business initiatives
- Develop and deliver employment law compliance training
- Partner with HR to ensure consistent application of Company policies
- Conduct research and monitor legislation and trends in labor and employment law
- Advise GEICO leadership on internal claims and data trends

Qualifications:
- JD degree from accredited law school
- Admission to practice law in at least one . jurisdiction
- 8 years of relevant experience in large in-house legal department, law firm, government, or HR/Employee Relations role
- Experience working with cross-functional partners to mitigate employment law risk
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to balance legal risk and business objectives while managing multiple priorities and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of federal and state wage and hour, health and safety, and/or labor relations law
- Experience managing government or internal investigations
- Prior insurance industry experience a plus
