Shumaker, a leading law firm, is seeking an experienced Real Estate Staff Attorney to join our team in Ohio. We are looking for a candidate with at least 3 years of commercial real estate law experience, who is eager to take on sophisticated and challenging legal work for clients in Ohio and nationwide.
Job Title: Real Estate Staff Attorney
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience
Job Type: Full-time, on-site
Location: Toledo, Columbus, or Akron, Ohio (multiple locations available)
Responsibilities:
- Draft, prepare, and negotiate commercial real estate documents, including deeds, leases, easements, and land use documents
- Conduct due diligence (title, survey, and zoning review) in real estate transactions
- Utilize strong technological skills, including proficiency with practice management systems and portals
- Conduct thorough research using online services and databases
- Manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
- Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, both verbally and in writing
- Maintain confidentiality and work independently
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school
- Active bar license with the ability to obtain an Ohio license
- Minimum 3 years of real estate law experience, preferably in a commercial setting
- Strong technological skills and proficiency with practice management systems and portals
- Excellent research skills and ability to utilize online services and databases
- Project management skills and ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit in a static position for up to one-half hour at a time
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally, for up to one hour per day
- Occasional bending and stooping for up to one-half hour per day
