Legal Secretary/Paralegal Candidate will have solid family law background and will undertake a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. Will work under the supervision of an attorney and will also provide paralegal support for some cases, including drafting Case Information Statements, discovery demands and other legal documents. The goal is to sustain efficiency of all office procedures and case management so as to guarantee reliability and consistency. Provide administrative support to one or more lawyers, including typing/editing correspondence and documents, assembling motions and electronic filing of court documents. Paralegal functions including setting up framework for motions and legal documents for attorneys. Effectively communicate with clients, colleagues and Court personnel in a courteous and professional manner. Filing and keeping client files up-to-date and organized. Maintain Outlook calendar for attorney appointments and court appearances. Enter timeslips and other information into MyCase. Maintain diary/reminder system and daily to-do logs for attorneys.
Qualifications: Paralegal certificate a plus. Proven experience as a family law secretary/paralegal, with 2+ years working exclusively in this area of law. Knowledge of basic legal terminology, Court Rules and other legal processes for family law cases. Knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, MyCase and Easy Soft, but will provide training for some of the more specialized programs used by the firm. Working knowledge of litigation management software systems such as Easy Soft and MyCase is a plus. Must have experience in drafting Case Information Statements and gathering requisite financial documents from clients. Proficiency in English and grammar. Outstanding time-management, organizational, and typing skills. Ability to multitask and being comfortable dealing with a diverse pool of people in a busy environment. Schedule: 3 days per week, 7 hours per day.
