Introduction and Overview:
- Amazon's Legal Department is seeking a Corporate Counsel with a strong regulatory and compliance background to support AWS, one of the world’s fastest growing technology companies.
- AWS provides state-of-the-art cloud computing services and IT infrastructure trusted by millions of customers around the world.
- This role will focus on advising and supporting teams dedicated to security, compliance, and risk management of AWS infrastructure.
- The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and recognized brand and must demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice on regulations related to the design, development, manufacture, procurement, distribution, use, and disposition of NSA-certified encryption, cross-domain solutions, and other regulated technologies.
- Offer compliance-related legal support for construction, procurement, and global operations for AWS Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities globally.
- Monitor and advise on upcoming regulatory changes related to these topics.
- Develop and maintain applicable regulatory compliance policies and processes.
Basic Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent.
- 5+ years of legal experience.
- Experience providing legal counsel and support for regulatory and compliance matters.
- Must be a . citizen or national, . permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the . as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with regulations related to the National Industrial Security Program (NISPOM), . government cybersecurity regulations, FARS and DFARS requirements, FedRAMP, Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), National Cross Domain Solutions Management Office (NCDSMO), NSA Communications Security (COMSEC), and/or requirements related to supply chain security.
- Experience building and scaling compliance programs in-house.
- In-house experience in the defense or aerospace industries.
- 7+ years of legal experience (with several years in-house).
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Common sense, great judgment, and a good sense of humor.

- The base pay for this position ranges from $138,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market.
