Litigation Paralegal - Mass Tort The candidate will review file and perform all work required to draft discovery responses, including objections, factual responses, and contention responses, to all forms of discovery requests for attorney review and approval. This includes performing attorney edits and finalizing for service. Communicate with attorneys to obtain an overview of case, liability, and damages, to guide drafting of discovery responses. Communicate with clients to obtain information and documents to support liability and damages claims through discovery responses. Organize documents obtained from clients including medical records/bills, income records, photographs, and other documents. Create exhibits containing responsive documents and redact as necessary. Create productions compliant with MDL/JCCP discovery orders. Obtain discovery response verifications from client and serve final discovery responses. Work with experts and legal assistants to facilitate expert file production prior to expert depositions for attorney review. Identify records such as medical records, medical bills, police reports, etc. to be ordered. Communicate with third parties, such as settlement administrators, co-counsel, and vendors to facilitate exchange of information, documents, and payments. Attend independent medical examinations. Communicate with attorneys regarding upcoming due dates and deadlines. Ensure all costs are promptly approved and forwarded to Accounting for payment. Must have 3-5+ years of litigation experience. Mass tort, personal injury, and product liability plaintiff experience preferred. Strong familiarity with the California Code of Civil Procedure, the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, and other related codes. Strong familiarity with medical billing and the application of Howell. Knowledge of court filing requirements, including experience with e-filing in state and federal court. Must exhibit well-developed interpersonal communication and client relation skills. Strong project and task management skills. Strong Software skills in MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat as well as experience with calendaring. Must be highly detail-oriented and able to manage multiple high-volume priorities in a fast-paced environment.
