Job Title: Assistant District Attorney III

Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant District Attorney III is responsible for reviewing, investigating, indicting, and prosecuting or resolving felony criminal cases on behalf of the citizens of Fulton County. This position functions in a lead capacity, overseeing the work or caseload of other attorneys or investigative and legal staff. Essential functions of the role include:

- Leading and coordinating daily work activities of assigned co-workers, organizing tasks, monitoring work progress, and providing technical expertise.
- Conducting or assisting in jury trials, preliminary and pretrial hearings, post-trial or appellate proceedings, and related courtroom proceedings. This includes preparing and arguing motions, conducting jury selection, presenting evidence, and making bond and sentencing recommendations.
- Investigating, evaluating, and preparing cases for trial by requesting and inspecting records and evidence, preparing graphics and exhibits, serving discovery, and interviewing witnesses.
- Conducting case research and documentation, preparing briefs and motions, writing case summaries, and drafting complaints, accusations, indictments, and supporting documents.
- Preparing cases and indictments for presentation to the Grand Jury, reviewing case files, determining appropriate charges, and presenting cases to Grand Jurors.
- Communicating and serving as a liaison with victims, family, witnesses, and community partners, providing updates on case status and explaining the investigative and judicial process.
- Conducting pre-trial case resolution, including plea negotiations and consulting with superiors or the District Attorney regarding negotiated pleas.
- Managing caseload by attending scheduled court appearances and coordinating trial and hearing dates with judges and case managers.
- Coordinating with community partners and the public to support criminal justice efforts and crime prevention initiatives, educating the community about the criminal justice system, and providing resources and training.
- Communicating with defense attorneys, judges, law enforcement, investigators, legal support staff, victims, witnesses, supervisors, media, government officials, and the public to coordinate work activities and resolve problems.
- Processing a variety of documentation associated with department operations, including police reports, witness statements, laboratory reports, criminal histories, and defense motions.

Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctorate Degree is required.
- A minimum of six (6) years of experience in law is required, including two (2) years of lead or supervisory experience.

Specific License or Certification Required:
- Must hold an active membership in good standing with any State Bar Association.
- Must obtain active membership with the Georgia State Bar Association within one year of hire.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:
- Proficiency in the performance of essential functions and the ability to learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures.
- Requires knowledge of federal, state, and local criminal laws, policies and procedures governing Fulton County Superior Court, and methods and techniques related to the area of assignment.

Salary Information:
- The salary for the Assistant District Attorney III position ranges from $105, to $158, annually.

Additional Information:
- The position is unclassified and located in the District Attorney's Office.
- The recruitment will be used to fill full-time, temporary, grant-funded, and part-time positions.
- The examination for this position will consist of an evaluation of education and experience.
