Introduction:
SCCLS is a growing non-profit civil legal aid program that provides high-quality legal representation to low-income and other vulnerable residents in Southeastern MA, Cape Cod, and the Islands. We are seeking dedicated and passionate Staff Attorneys to join our advocacy teams in all SCCLS law offices. This is an excellent opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those in need and work with a supportive and creative team.

Qualifications:

• Prior poverty law and/or litigation experience preferred
• Commitment to seeking racial and economic justice for low-income communities
• Aptitude for working with clients who may have experienced poverty, trauma, or discrimination
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Skilled at factual and legal investigation and analysis
• Ability to persuasively communicate clients' legal claims
• Effective communication with people from diverse cultures, opinions, and values
• Creative in identifying and pursuing legal projects with broad impact
• Fluency in a language that reflects our client communities (Spanish, Portuguese, Cape Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole, Vietnamese, Khmer) is valued

Compensation and Benefits:
• Salary based on collective bargaining agreement scale starting at $72,500
• Yearly standard increases and multi-lingual annual increment for demonstrated language skills

About the Organization:
SCCLS and its subsidiary, the Justice Center of Southeast Massachusetts (JCSM), are the principal providers of free, civil legal aid to low-income residents in Southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod, and the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. With a combined staff of nearly 80, our core mission is to achieve justice for eligible clients through community-based advocacy. We prioritize legal services in housing, public benefits, elder law, domestic relations, employment, education, immigration, and consumer matters.
