Job Title: Summer Law Clerk
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and draft memoranda, pleadings, and correspondence.
- Assist with litigation preparation, including depositions, witness interviews, and discovery.
- Draft client advice memos and attend meetings where advice is presented to clients.
- Observe attorneys in court, particularly in cases where the law clerk has provided assistance.
- Rule 9 law clerks may have the opportunity to present in court.
Education and Experience Information:
- Candidates must be enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school during their service period.
- The program is open to first and second-year law students.
- Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to public service through their background, talents, attitude, and enthusiasm for public law practice.
- A diverse background in education, previous work experience, law school activities, extracurricular activities, community service, and areas of interest that enhance the office is desired.
- Candidates must be able to work in Washington State for the duration of the clerkship.
Salary Information:
- Law clerks who have completed their first year of law school will receive $23 per hour.
- Law clerks who have completed their second year of law school will receive $24 per hour.
- Positions assigned to the Seattle office location receive a 5% King County Location Pay.
