Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal The candidate will be responsible for assisting the litigation attorney in handling 100-150 litigation files. Responsibilities: Pleadings - Draft Motions for Alternative Service, Motions for Extraordinary Relief, Motions to Compel and Sanctions of Discovery Responses, Motions to Compel and Sanctions for the Deposition of Defendant, Praecipes Relating to the Filing of Discovery Motions, Praecipes to Withdraw (a motion and/or lawsuit), OSDE, etc. E-filing - Be able to file any document with the Court (mostly only state court filings). Service - Be able to handle service, primarily of Complaints, including dealing with issues whereby the Defendant has not been served due to issues locating Defendant's current address. Need to also be able to draft a Notice of Intent to Take a Default Judgment, as well as drafting a Praecipe to Enter Default Judgment. Communicating with clients about case status updates, confirming IME appointments, scheduling deposition dates, confirming deposition dates, etc. Scheduling - Schedule deposition dates and IME appointments. Calendaring Events - Must be able to calendar important events related to a client's case. Medical Records - Request and follow-up with medical record and itemized bill requests. Discovery - Draft Discovery Requests to be sent to defense counsel and send 10 Day Letters if necessary. Health Insurance Liens - Be able to know whether an updated health insurance lien needs to be requested. Insurance Documents - Be able to know if we have all insurance documents, such as the Dec Page, Waiver Forms if they apply, PIP Ledgers, and Exhaustion Letters. Should have 2+ Years of Personal Injury Litigation Experience (handling auto and premises liability cases). Must be detail-oriented, organized, and be able to prioritize tasks appropriately, with minimal supervision.
