Corporate Counsel - Manage Commercial Litigation Portfolio and Provide Legal Advice and Leadership

Salary: $138,500-$229,000/year depending on experience and geographic location

Amazon is seeking a highly motivated and experienced litigator to join their legal department as a Corporate Counsel. This role will involve managing a portion of Amazon's commercial litigation portfolio and providing legal advice and leadership to various stakeholders within the company. The successful candidate will have a strong background in litigation, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities:

- Architect and implement litigation strategy for product, auto, general, medical, and workers’ compensation liability cases
- Develop and refine coordinating counsel structures to optimize management of disputes
- Select, manage, and improve performance of outside counsel
- Work cross-functionally with Risk Management department to ensure optimal management of individual cases
- Advise Amazon leadership on legal and business risks and opportunities
- Prepare for trial by working with Amazon witnesses and data repositories
- Coordinate with public policy and public relations teams on litigation-related matters
- Design and implement processes for efficient decision-making
- Provide daily cross-functional leadership to disparate Amazon stakeholders on legal issues

Basic Qualifications:

- 5+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong business judgment and common sense
- Experience with product, auto, general, medical, or workers’ compensation liability cases
- Familiarity with Risk Management personnel, third party administrators, and insurance companies
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and work well with other lawyers, business clients, paralegals, and assistants
- Curiosity and creativity
- High ethical and professional standards

The base pay for this position ranges from $138,500/year in the lowest geographic market to $229,000/year in the highest geographic market. Pay is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and may vary depending on location.
