Overview:
The Manager, Staff Counsel at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is responsible for managing a case load from inception to resolution. This role involves pre-trial discovery, drafting pleadings, communicating with involved parties, and presenting defense strategies in court. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values, and uphold the organization's standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently represent the Insured before the assigned Court and present witnesses and evidence on litigated claims
- Analyze complex legal and factual issues, conduct extensive legal research, and develop defense strategies for the Employer/Carrier
- Prepare pleadings, written discovery, motions, and briefs in support of defense strategies
- Attend and handle all activities related to full trial and/or appeals
- Provide effective and timely communication, legal advice, and other services to clients and claims professionals
- Use independent judgment, research, litigation, and analytical skills in the role
- Assist in developing training materials and presenting seminars for the Claim Department
- Work with the Claim and Litigation Departments on special projects related to the practice or line of business
- Communicate with the Court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and clients in accordance with established procedures and the Code of Professional Conduct
- Responsible for the prompt, efficient, and effective disposition of assigned cases
- Potentially supervise and mentor junior attorneys and support their professional development
- Stay current with market trends and demands by attending continuing legal education seminars
- Perform other functionally related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
- State Bar licensed attorney
- Knowledge of State laws, local court policies and procedures
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Experience with supervision and development of more junior attorneys
- 11+ years' relevant practice group litigation experience
Preferred:
- Multi-state Bar admittance
- Experience with Team Connect legal software and dictation
- Managerial experience of a litigation group
Salary Information:
The salary range for this role is $150K - $185K per year. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics. This range may be modified in the future.
