Overview

- Seeking a Practice Manager to oversee the Debt Finance department and provide operational support to the Department Chair.
- Work closely with the chair to manage financial performance, matter intake, lawyer performance, marketing and business development, and communications and events for the department.

Responsibilities

Lawyer Performance:

- Monitor workloads, billable hours, productivity, and time entry compliance for lawyers.
- Escalate any concerns to the Department Chair and ensure follow-up on action items.

Financial Performance:

- Partner with the department financial advisor to track key performance indicators and provide guidance to the chair.
- Proactively oversee accounts receivable, unbilled time, and collections.
- Escalate any concerns to the Department Chair and work with finance and accounting team to resolve issues.

Matter Intake:

- Review and approve routine client and matter intake, conflicts issues, and billing rate exceptions.
- Research and escalate any issues to the Department Chair.

Marketing/Business Development and Department Expenses:

- Work with marketing and business development team to develop annual budgets and approve expenditures for the department.
- Set annual budgets for interoffice travel and department meetings.
- Track department spend against budgets and provide necessary reporting.
- Review and approve expense reports and vendor invoices.

Department Communications and Events:

- Liaise with administrative departments to ensure department priorities are met.
- Facilitate department meetings, projects, and events.
- Coordinate with the chair’s practice assistant and assist with managing their calendar and travel.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of relevant experience.
- Direct experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred.
- Highly organized with ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with all levels of staff.
- Emphasis on client service.
- Ability to work well under pressure and be a team player.
