Taft, a leading law firm with offices in Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Denver, Detroit, Indianapolis, and Minneapolis, is seeking a highly skilled Financial Reporting Analyst to support our accounting team in our Chicago office. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and reports, preparing financial analyses and budgets, and providing support for various departments within the firm. This is a dynamic and fast-paced position that requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed financial reports and analyses using accounting systems and report writing tools, such as Excel, Power Query, SQL, and Tableau.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting initiatives, including financial statement analyses and ad-hoc projects.
- Support various departments by completing a diverse set of surveys.
- Manage and own projects from start to finish, ensuring timely and successful completion.
- Develop a strong understanding of the firm's accounting application and overall financial operations.
- Utilize report writing tools to provide accurate and timely financial information and analysis.
- Perform ad hoc projects and analyses as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Four or more years of related work experience, preferably in a professional services law firm.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to summarize complex financial data in an accurate and concise manner.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present information and ideas to multiple levels of the organization.
- Strong organization and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under time constraints.
- Willingness to occasionally work more than 40 hours per week.
- Experience with writing complex database queries and extracting and reporting data using SQL and Business Intelligence tools.
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel, including advanced features such as Power Query, pivot tables, advanced formulas, macros, filtering, and graphs.
- CPA certification is not required but beneficial.
