Internship Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work with Pine Tree attorneys and advocates on a variety of civil legal issues facing low-income Mainers, including housing, eviction defense, public benefits, and consumer debt
• Respond to the immediate needs of individual clients through research, drafting legal documents, and providing legal advice and representation
• Participate in client meetings, court hearings, and other legal proceedings
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support attorneys and advocates in their casework
• Attend trainings and workshops to enhance legal knowledge and skills
• Collaborate with other interns and staff to share ideas and resources
• Complete administrative tasks as needed
Internship Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in an accredited law school
• Interest in and commitment to social justice and serving low-income individuals and communities
• Strong research, writing, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Reliable and able to manage a full-time workload
• Prior experience or knowledge in relevant legal areas is preferred

****, a non-profit legal aid organization in Maine, is currently seeking law students for our summer internship program. As a law student intern, you will have the opportunity to work with experienced attorneys and advocates on a variety of civil legal issues facing low-income Mainers.
Gain Hands-On Experience in Civil Legal Issues:
• Work on cases related to housing, eviction defense, public benefits, and consumer debt
• Respond to the immediate needs of individual clients through research, drafting legal documents, and providing legal advice and representation
• Participate in client meetings, court hearings, and other legal proceedings
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support attorneys and advocates in their casework
• Attend trainings and workshops to enhance legal knowledge and skills
• Collaborate with other interns and staff to share ideas and resources
Unpaid Summer Internship:
• Duration: 10 weeks (full time, hours per week)
• Location: Various offices throughout Maine (in-person with possibility of some remote/hybrid work)
• First round application deadline: November 1, 2024 at 5 pm
• Second round application deadline: January 16, 2025 at 5 pm
Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in an accredited law school
• Interest in and commitment to social justice and serving low-income individuals and communities
