The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. (CPS) is seeking a Deputy Chief, Labor Relations to assist in the oversight of all aspects of labor relations for the district. This role will report to the Chief Labor Relations Officer and will work closely with senior leaders and school administrators to develop labor relations and bargaining goals and strategies. The Deputy Chief will also represent CPS in contract negotiations, support the management of contract administration, and provide regular updates to the CEO and Board of Education on labor issues and developments.

Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with senior leaders, school administrators, and labor partners to develop labor relations and bargaining goals and strategies
Represent CPS in contract negotiations and impact bargaining discussions with eight labor organizations representing CPS’ 40,000 plus public sector unionized employees
Support the Chief Labor Relations Officer in the management of contract administration, including drafting contracts and implementing contract terms
Assist in leading the engagement with district principals and union representatives on labor issues
Provide regular briefings and updates to the CEO, senior leaders, and the Board of Education on labor issues and developments
Support the supervision, management, and leadership of the attorneys and support staff assigned to the Labor Relations team
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required, Juris Doctor or Masters Degree in Labor Relations, Human Resources, Public Administration, or Employment Law strongly preferred
Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in labor relations, employment law, human resources, or school leadership
Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build effective relationships with labor partners
Demonstrated ability to take ownership of and solve problems, and make sound recommendations
Strong leadership skills, including in relationship building, conflict management, and decision-making
