Legal Secretary/Legal Assistant The candidate greets guests and clients (in person or by telephone); answering or directing calls and inquiries. Processes of all new files for the attorney. Maintains attorney calendar by planning and scheduling teleconferences, meetings, and all court appearances; recording and monitoring court appearance dates, pleadings, and filing requirements; monitoring changes in litigation or transaction preparation requirements. Maintains litigation files and tracking reports/lists. Prepares general pleadings, files documents with the courts. Prepares correspondence, copies and mailings for attorney and others. Drafts letters and documents from dictation or forms. Maintains and processes incoming mail, routing correspondence, reports and legal documents. Organizes conferences, attorney meetings; schedules couriers; coordinates preparation of documents and projects. Produces information by formatting, inputting, editing, retrieving, scanning, copying, and transmitting data, and graphics; coordinating case preparation with others. Represents attorney by communicating and obtaining information; following-up on delegated assignments; knowing when to act and when to refer matters to attorney and other staff. Handles and monitors monthly payments from various sources; documents payment information. Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Maintains client confidence by keeping client/attorney information confidential. Accepts opportunities for new tasks and enhanced responsibilities. Should have 1+ years of experience in similar setting. Should be licensed in Texas, licensed in New Mexico is preferred. Spanish skills are preferred.
