The . Trustee Program (USTP) is offering a valuable opportunity for paralegal interns to gain experience in the legal field while supporting the integrity and efficiency of the bankruptcy system. This national program, with 89 field offices across 21 regions, is seeking interns for the Fall 2025 session from September to December.
As a paralegal intern, you will assist office staff with a variety of tasks related to administrative and legal support services, and legal research. This includes assisting with paralegal support assignments, providing trial and deposition support, conducting factual research, and reviewing bankruptcy petitions. You may also have the opportunity to observe Initial Debtor Interviews, 341 Meetings of Creditors, and court hearings.
To be eligible for this internship, you must be a recent graduate, attending an accredited college or university, or an accredited paralegal program. The ideal candidate will have excellent research skills, show attention to detail, and be committed to fairness and integrity in the administration of the bankruptcy system. Interns must generally commit to 10-16 hours per week for at least 10 weeks, with specific hours determined by each office.
This is an uncompensated internship, but academic credit and transit subsidies are available. Additionally, some colleges and universities offer fellowships, grants, and other sources of funding for students participating in unpaid government or public service internships. The USTP will participate in such programs when brought forward by an intern or school representative.
