Litigation Paralegal The candidate must be motivated, detail-oriented and experienced working as a litigation paralegal. Handle high-volume civil litigation cases, primarily involving high-value, nursing home neglect/abuse cases. Assist in the preparation and filing of legal documents (complaints, motions, etc.) in state court including but not limited to, Texas and other states. Assist in propounding and responding to discovery. Draft and process incoming and outgoing correspondence. Provide administrative assistance to attorneys, including managing calendars and deadlines. Act as a liaison among all parties including a court or other neutrals for scheduling and sharing information. Schedule, confirm, and assist attorneys in preparation for depositions and mediations. Prepare materials for review by expert witnesses and consultants. Perform well in a high-level fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Skilled with computers and software as well as an organization; research case-related factual issues using in-house files and outside referral sources. Assist in preparing for court proceedings, including, but not limited to, arbitration, and trial (and maintaining communication with clients, experts, and witnesses. Organize and maintain electronic case files within the company software/case management system (experience and knowledge of Smart Advocate software are a plus). Paralegal Certificate and bachelor's degree or 5+ years of litigation experience required. Experience with medical malpractice is preferred but not required. Should have exceptional verbal and written communication skills; knowledgeable of procedural rules, including Code of Civil Procedure and Texas Court Rules. Professional and courteous to clients and staff; detail-oriented, team player, positive, energetic, kind, and well-spoken with excellent customer service skills. Should be proficient in Microsoft Office programs (including Outlook, Word), Adobe Acrobat Pro, and typing speed over 60 WPM; demonstrate good ethics, and judgment and maintain the confidentiality of files.
