Job Title: Environmental Senior Counsel

Job Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and counsel on environmental regulatory matters in New York, advocating for the company's position in complex proceedings with regulators and stakeholders.
- Understand and apply complex legal, market, political, and regulatory aspects of the business, building and utilizing internal and external networks to influence best practices.
- Deliver subject matter expertise and guidance on environmental issues to support New York business operations and resolve complex concerns.
- Exercise independent judgment on complex and strategic legal matters, offering guidance to VP-level or higher-level clients.
- Challenge and provide legal guidance on business initiatives where significant risks exist to mitigate potential risks.
- Engage proactively in business and departmental initiatives with company-wide significance, making informed legal and business recommendations to improve performance.
- Identify significant corporate risks in business matters, providing legal guidance and working with assurance and the business to develop mitigation measures.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities, manage cross-matrix teams to high performance, and ensure adherence to the company's core values.
- Provide authoritative and commercially oriented legal advice and support to meet business objectives.
- Ensure projects are assessed, designed, planned, resourced, and scheduled cost-effectively to ensure best value for the company.
- Evaluate policy legislation standards to determine their impact on the company and review existing policies to drive best value.
- Manage outside counsel to provide excellent service and significant value and assume the role of relationship manager for law firms.
- Coach and challenge matrix project teams, creating development plans to advance capabilities and manage underperformance.
- Bring creative and innovative legal approaches for the benefit of business clients and establish high-level confidence with senior executives and stakeholders.
- Manage numerous, complex matters efficiently and effectively.

Education and Experience Information:
- 8+ years of legal experience.
- Juris Doctor Degree, admission to, and good standing with the New York state bar.
- Significant experience in environmental regulatory matters, particularly regarding CERCLA, RCRA, and CWA issues, with a focus on complex sites with multiple responsible parties and regulatory authorities.
- Proven ability to communicate strategic context for business priorities and manage the integration of functional discipline work.
- In-depth knowledge of legislative/environmental issues affecting the industry.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, high personal standards of commitment and integrity, and a strong sense of teamwork.

Salary Information:
- $214k - $234k a year in Brooklyn, NY & Hicksville, NY
- $179k - $195k a year in Syracuse, NY
