Job Title: Land Use and Zoning Associate
Location: Newark, New Jersey

Sills Cummis & Gross . is seeking a highly qualified Land Use and Zoning Associate to join our statewide Land Use & Zoning Law Practice Group. We are looking for someone with 4-6 years of experience in land use and zoning, with a significant command of the New Jersey Municipal Land Use Law. The ideal candidate will also have experience presenting applications before municipal and county planning boards and zoning boards.
Responsibilities:
- Represent property owners, contract purchasers, and other interested parties in pursuit of land use approvals and permits.
- Negotiate and draft redevelopment agreements and financial agreements.
- Provide guidance and counsel on the Redevelopment Law process in New Jersey.
- Conduct thorough research and analysis on complex land use and zoning issues.
- Present applications before municipal and county planning boards and zoning boards.
- Interact directly with clients and provide excellent client service.
Requirements:
- 4-6 years of land use and zoning experience.
- Significant command of the New Jersey Municipal Land Use Law.
- Experience presenting applications before municipal and county planning boards and zoning boards.
- Familiarity with the Redevelopment Law process in New Jersey, including experience negotiating and drafting redevelopment agreements and financial agreements, is a plus.
- Strong research skills and oral communication skills.
- JD from an accredited law school with a strong academic record.
- Must be licensed to practice in the State of New Jersey.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and to interact directly with clients.
