Responsibilities:
- Deliver strategic and tactical legal support for all aspects of LendingClub's activities in the consumer finance industry
- Serve as a trusted advisor and partner to business teams on development of new products and services, training on consumer finance laws and regulations, and drafting and negotiating business agreements
- Monitor and analyze regulatory developments and engage with business partners to ensure understanding and operational readiness
- Partner with Compliance team to ensure comprehensive risk support, including responding to consumer complaints and managing internal and external compliance reviews and examinations
- Collaborate with team members to improve processes and procedures and ensure consistent interpretation and application of legal requirements
- Support LendingClub's strategic objectives through various legal matters
- May manage other legal team members and support their responsibilities
Requirements:
- . from an accredited law school and license to practice law in one or more states
- At least 10 years of combined experience in law firms, government, and/or in-house legal departments
- At least 8 years of experience in consumer finance law and regulations, with a preference for at least 5 years in-house at a bank, credit union, or fintech
- Experience advising on laws and regulations such as TILA/Regulation Z, ECOA/Regulation B, FCRA/Regulation V, BSA/AML, EFTA/Regulation E, TCPA, TSR, CAN-SPAM, FDCPA, UDAAP, and GLBA/Regulation P
- Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing business environment and adapt to innovation and change
- Comfortable getting involved in the hands-on execution and implementation of legal advice
- Able to manage multiple tasks and advise on novel issues
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, able to develop collaborative relationships with internal partners and external customers
- High level of integrity and able to have candid conversations with business leaders
Compensation:
- Target base salary range of $160,000 - $230,000
- Bonus based on company and employee performance and eligible earnings
