Job Overview:
Sompo International, a leading provider of insurance and reinsurance, is seeking a highly experienced AVP, Claims Counsel for our Financial Institutions team. Responsibilities:
- Handle and evaluate US Financial Institutions claims
- Provide coverage, liability, and damages analysis for complex D&O and E&O claims
- Support underwriting with legal review and policy drafting
- Proactively identify trends and exposures in the FI portfolio
- Communicate with and support other functional groups within the organization
- Contribute to global team projects and attend industry conferences
- Some travel may be required
Qualifications:
- Law degree required
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in D&O claims handling or related litigation
- Preference for experience at both a law firm and insurance carrier
- Strong preference for insurance-related designation (RPLU or CPCU)
- Experience handling complex high-profile and high-exposure management liability claims
- Meaningful legal review and policy drafting experience
- Strong negotiating, analytical, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and marketing skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and claims systems (Guidewire, Genius, ImageRight)
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary Range: $135,000 - $195,000
