The Ideal Candidate should have at least 3 years of law experience in California, with a focus on civil trial experience in either prosecuting or defending lawsuits. Strong legal research and writing skills are a must, including experience with Writs, Appeals, and preparing trial documents and briefs. Experience with State laws involving housing, planning and zoning, and environmental laws is desirable.

As part of the City Attorney's Office, the Deputy Community Prosecutor will represent the City in all legal matters. This includes defending the City in lawsuits, prosecuting crimes at the local level, and advising the City Council and officials on legal matters. This position also involves prosecuting criminal cases and working with other government agencies to support local law enforcement.

Reporting to the City Attorney, the Deputy Community Prosecutor will be responsible for leading the City's prosecutorial efforts for Municipal Law and Penal Code violations in Huntington Beach. This includes reviewing law enforcement reports, conducting court hearings and trials, and drafting legal documents. The ideal candidate will also have experience working with law enforcement personnel and providing legal advice and training.

To be considered for this position, candidates must have a Juris Doctorate degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school, active membership in the State Bar of California, and a valid California Class C driver's license.
