Join the Product Legal Team at Okta
As Senior Corporate Counsel, Product Legal at Okta, you will have the opportunity to help build a scalable global Product Legal function and provide frontline product counseling for Okta’s global product portfolio. This role requires excellent business judgment and critical thinking to provide effective legal solutions that align with business objectives while mitigating legal risks. You will work closely with key internal partners and support various strategic and tactical legal matters related to the development and release of Okta offerings.
What you’ll be doing:
- Counsel and work closely with Okta’s Product Management and Engineering teams through all stages of software product and cloud service life cycles
- Develop strong and collaborative relationships with cross-functional partners across Okta
- Support M&A activities, including diligence and integration
- Review, draft, and negotiate technology agreements related to Okta’s product portfolio
- Perform due diligence to ensure compliance with third-party agreements, open source licenses, and government regulations
- Review order document language and draft offering specific terms
- Help develop and document scalable and repeatable practices and procedures for internal clients
What you’ll bring to the role:
- 7+ years of experience in law firm and/or in-house, with at least 5 years working on relevant product matters
- Strong understanding of cloud service offerings and multi-tenant SaaS architecture
- Ability to understand technical lingo and concepts as well as fluency in software development methods and related business models
- Expertise in intellectual property, open source issues, and information and product security, with an awareness of data privacy issues
- Sound and practical legal and business judgment
- Wide and general knowledge of global laws that can affect product development and release
- Self-motivation and ability to independently advise on issues related to product counseling
- Experience with drafting contract language and negotiating strongly preferred
- Team oriented with a sense of humor
- Strong academic background and a licensed lawyer in good standing
