Job Title: Payroll and Compensation Administrator
Job Responsibilities:
The Payroll and Compensation Administrator is responsible for managing the full payroll cycle and conducting compensation analysis for both employees and attorney partners. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Administering and overseeing partner compensation programs, including monthly draws and periodic distributions.
- Processing and validating payroll changes such as new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and benefit deductions.
- Monitoring and maintaining partner compensation agreements to ensure compliance with guaranteed payments and bonus structures.
- Executing mid-month contract payments accurately.
- Developing and maintaining audit trails for payroll transactions and reconciliations.
- Coordinating with Tax, Retirement, Benefits, and Accounts Payable teams for accurate withholdings and accounting treatment.
- Ensuring compliance with payroll and compensation laws.
In the area of Compensation Analysis, the administrator will:
- Create detailed compensation budgets and forecasts, integrating them into overall company budgeting and planning.
- Prepare monthly variance analysis reports and analyze historical compensation trends.
- Perform routine audits to ensure accuracy between payments, payroll system, and general ledger.
- Reconcile tax liability accounts and develop policies to enhance processes.
- Automate procedures to achieve efficiency and perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in payroll management.
- Proven expertise with ADP or comparable payroll processing systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and strong working knowledge of the MS Office suite.
- A solid understanding of accounting principles and financial management.
- Demonstrated experience in process automation and efficiency improvement.
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Project management expertise with an ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellence in written and verbal communication across all organizational levels.
- Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Professional discretion in handling confidential compensation information.
- Strong working knowledge of federal and state payroll and compensation laws.
Salary Information:
The salary range for the Payroll and Compensation Administrator position is between $70,000 and $90,000 annually. The law firm offers a generous total compensation and benefits package.
