TRLA specializes in providing legal services to low-income communities in the toughest areas of Texas. With a team of around 200 lawyers specializing in over 40 practice areas, TRLA is not afraid to take on challenging cases and fight for justice. TRLA fully supports their attorneys in bringing creative and complex litigation to state and federal court, while also providing services to individual clients.
Job Description:
TRLA is currently hiring staff attorneys and management positions across their 68-county service area. They are specifically looking for attorneys to work in their border and rural offices in cities such as Del Rio, Eagle Pass, Laredo, Corpus Christi, Sinton, Edinburg, and Brownsville. The ideal candidates will be passionate about defending the vulnerable, serving the community, and fighting for justice.
Responsibilities:
• Defending the vulnerable in legal disputes
• Serving the community by providing legal services
• Suing the bastards (demandando a los pendejos)
Qualifications:
• Must be licensed to practice law in Texas, able to waive in, or pass the next available bar exam.
• Preferred applicants have a demonstrated interest in providing justice to those who need it most, strong academic credentials, fluency in Spanish, and a desire to work in areas of greatest need.
Compensation & Benefits:
• Licensed attorneys: $64,355–$87,565+ per year, depending on experience.
• Robust benefits package including law school loan repayment assistance, generous paid leave, healthcare insurance, retirement plan, stipends for training and travel, and incentives for Spanish language proficiency.
• 3Ls are placed on salary the first week of July (but not expected to come to work until after the July bar exam), and 3Ls are reimbursed for the reasonable costs of the bar prep course, bar application fee (and any fee needed to transfer the UBE score to Texas).
