Job Overview

A law firm in Tampa, FL is seeking an accomplished International Trade Partner to join their team. The ideal candidate will be highly entrepreneurial, collegial, and possess a modest book of business. This role involves advising both . and foreign clients on complex regulatory requirements and trade compliance, as well as navigating various . government processes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Advise . and foreign clients on regulatory requirements related to investment in the ., including guiding foreign investors through the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) review process.
  • Provide counsel on compliance with . Customs regulations and other import-related regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with trade preference programs such as USMCA, and CAFTA, and apply trade remedies including Anti-Dumping (AD), Countervailing Duties (CVD), and Section 301 tariffs.
  • Advise clients on the . Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
  • Communicate effectively with regulators concerning investigations, protests, voluntary disclosures, and settlements.
  • Engage in trade litigation as needed; experience in this area is considered a plus.

Requirements

  • Proven track record in international trade law with a demonstrated ability to attract and maintain a client base.
  • Experience advising on CFIUS reviews, . Customs regulations, trade preference programs, and export controls.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the Bar in at least one . state; additional Bar admissions are a plus.

Skills

  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit with a focus on building and growing a practice.
  • Deep understanding of . trade regulations, including EAR, ITAR, and OFAC sanctions.
  • Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and provide strategic advice.
  • Proven track record in handling trade-related legal matters and negotiations.
  • Experience in trade litigation is advantageous but not required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
