Job Title: Associate Attorney
Job Overview:
A reputable law firm located in Mount Laurel, NJ is seeking a licensed attorney in New York to handle a dynamic portfolio focused on mortgage default, lending litigation, and creditors’ rights. This role offers an opportunity to manage end-to-end case responsibilities within the New York tri-state area while collaborating with both internal teams and client representatives. Ideal candidates will possess courtroom experience, a command of relevant New York procedural law, and the organizational acumen to oversee a high-volume caseload with precision.
Duties:
Prepare and file legal documents including motions, orders, notices, and pleadings
Conduct legal research on case law, statutes, legal precedents, and procedural rules
Maintain accurate and timely updates in electronic case management systems
Appear in court for routine hearings, litigation proceedings, and settlement conferences
Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and internal teams to ensure case continuity
Review and revise documents produced by paralegals to ensure compliance and accuracy
Recognize legal concerns requiring escalated analysis or supervision
Organize schedules and deadlines for filing and service of court documents
Travel as necessary for court appearances and client meetings
Requirements:
Active license and good standing with the New York State Bar
Solid understanding of the NYCPLR, RPAPL, and RPL statutes
Demonstrated litigation experience including motion practice, oral argument, and trial prep
Familiarity with creditor’s rights, foreclosure, eviction, or bankruptcy within New York
Proficiency with legal document platforms and default servicing systems (., Black Knight)
Prior experience using digital case tracking tools, especially CaseAware
Education:
Juris Doctor (.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school
Certifications:
Admission to practice law in New York State (required)
Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well across departments and with clients
High attention to detail with the capacity to manage large volumes of work
Self-motivated, flexible, and capable of independent case handling
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook and Word
Well-organized and deadline-driven
