Associate General Counsel - Remote

Summary:

We are seeking an Associate General Counsel to join our team at Optum, a global organization dedicated to improving health outcomes through technology and care delivery. In this role, you will work remotely from anywhere within the . and provide legal advice and services on issues concerning the rights, obligations, risks, and privileges of the organization. You will also support business clients in managing and reviewing agreements with strategic partners, as well as advise on regulatory and transactional matters. This position reports directly to the Deputy General Counsel and offers a competitive salary range of $124,500 to $239,400 annually, based on experience and other factors.

Responsibilities:

- Provide legal advice and services to protect the organization's rights in contract negotiations, settlements, and litigation
- Support business clients in managing and reviewing agreements with pharmaceutical manufacturers, infusion centers, payors, vendors, and other strategic partners
- Advise business leaders on compliance with healthcare laws and regulations, including the Federal Anti-kickback Statute and False Claims Act
- Acquire deep knowledge of the industry and specific business practices to best advise senior leaders
- Assist Deputy General Counsel in managing strategic projects
- Specialize in areas such as mergers and acquisitions, transactional work, commercial law, contracts law, regulatory matters, and healthcare compliance

Qualifications:

- Juris Doctorate degree and Bar admission in at least one state
- 4+ years of legal experience in healthcare regulatory and transactional practices, including deep understanding of infusion pharmacy distribution business
- Experience with compliance of healthcare laws and regulations at both state and federal levels
- Knowledge of . and state contract, corporate healthcare, and regulatory law
- Familiarity with state Boards of Pharmacy, Boards of Medicine and Nursing, Medicaid, Medicare, and state insurance departments
- Strong communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

- 7+ years of legal experience in healthcare regulatory and transactional practices within hospital-based and/or ambulatory infusion center delivery systems
- Experience working with state or federal healthcare regulatory agencies
- Understanding of hospital-based and/or ambulatory infusion services and the regulatory framework for infusion pharmacy services in those settings
- Business or legal experience with specialty pharmacy operations and/or pharmacy wholesale distribution
- Negotiation experience with pharmacy suppliers, vendors, and technology entities
