Job Title: Conflict of Interest Specialist
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide conflicts assistance to attorneys, legal assistants, and professional staff by taking requests and retrieving information from various files, databases, online sources, and outside services.
- Maintain internal database information.
- Perform accurate and methodical searches in the law firm's Conflicts of Interest System relevant to new business, investment, or hiring when working in either the office or remotely.
- Report accurate written results to requesting attorneys, legal assistants, and professional staff.
- Perform conflicts checks in off-hours from a remote location, on a rotational basis.
- Assist in maintaining and updating the Conflicts System.
- Maintain organization of the Conflicts group.
- Responsible for testing and learning new Conflicts applications and systems.
- Use a firm-issued mobile device while out of the office and during off hours, coordinating with staff to complete pending requests.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.
- Manage firm resources responsibly.
- Comply with and understand department and firm operations, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Attention to detail, accuracy in record keeping, strong communication skills, and expertise in computer searching.
- Knowledge of . and foreign company names and histories.
- Demonstrate teamwork and good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow detailed instructions.
- Ability to deal courteously and effectively with others.
- Ability to use third-party database systems, such as DNBi, Hoover's, and Capital IQ to find company information.
- Ability to delegate work effectively.
- Ability to be fully productive in a digital, paper-free workplace environment.
- Ability to use video conferencing tools, such as Webex, for communicating with staff and other firm personnel.
- Knowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities.
- Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team.
- Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience (minimum of three years)
- Minimum of one-year related experience in Conflicts of Interest research
Salary Information:
The starting base salary for this position is expected to be within the range of $80,000 - $90,000. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.
