The Associate Counsel position at GEICO is an exciting opportunity for experienced litigators to join a dynamic and growing insurance defense team. The role is primarily remote, but with occasional travel to attend trials, hearings, and meetings. The selected candidate will handle matters in Queens County, New York, defending lawsuits filed in New York courts and other first party insurance defense cases.
Responsibilities for this position include researching laws, preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda, and rendering opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department. The Associate Counsel will also prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery, and defend by trial or dispositive hearing, all matters assigned as applicable. This position requires 2 to 6+ years of experience in litigation, with a focus on insurance defense and/or personal injury cases. A Juris Doctor degree and admission to the New York Bar are also required.
The annual salary for this position ranges from $118,900 to $186,550, depending on factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience and education, and market and business considerations.
