Job Title: Assistant District Attorney (Lateral Hiring)

Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant District Attorney (ADA) in the Investigations Division is primarily responsible for managing an active criminal case docket. This includes preparing and filing pleadings, handling discovery, briefing and arguing motions, conducting witness preparation, grand jury presentations, hearings, and trials. ADAs are tasked with evaluating cases to formulate and negotiate appropriate dispositions, conferencing cases with defense counsel and judges, and making court appearances pertaining to all phases of litigation. Additionally, ADAs are involved in investigating cases using various legal processes such as subpoenas, court orders, search warrants, and eavesdropping warrants. They collaborate with the Nassau County Police Department and local police departments, as well as various local, state, and federal law enforcement partners.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must have passed the New York State Bar Examination and be admitted to practice law in New York State, maintaining good standing prior to submitting an application. Applicants must reside in New York State as of the effective date of employment with the organization. A minimum of five years of experience in handling all aspects of criminal investigation and prosecution is required, including significant long-term investigations experience, grand jury, and felony jury trial experience. Experience in drafting eavesdropping and search warrants is preferred. Candidates must possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, along with strong organizational and analytical abilities. There is a mandatory two-year commitment to employment at the organization.

Salary Information:
The annual salary for the Assistant District Attorney position ranges from $93,000 to $163,000.
