Job Overview

A well-regarded legal practice based in Encino, CA is currently seeking a driven and detail-oriented attorney with experience in civil litigation—preferably within the employment law arena—to join its growing defense team. This role provides the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment where initiative, critical thinking, and autonomy are valued. The associate will manage litigation matters from inception to resolution, contribute to strategic planning, and represent clients in employment-related disputes.

Duties

  • Represent business clients in disputes involving workplace-related legal claims

  • Manage all aspects of civil litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motions, and depositions

  • Participate in case strategy development and client advisement

  • Draft and argue pre-trial motions and handle case management conferences

  • Prepare for and assist with mediations, arbitrations, and trials

  • Conduct legal research and prepare opinion letters or memoranda as needed

  • Collaborate with partners and other attorneys in a team-focused setting

  • Maintain timely and accurate records of billable hours and client communications

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing civil litigation

  • Familiarity with employment law or workplace defense cases preferred

  • Strong knowledge of California civil procedure and litigation rules

  • Demonstrated ability to manage case files independently

  • Effective oral advocacy and legal writing skills

Education

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school

  • Admission to the California State Bar in good standing

Certifications

  • An active California Bar License required
