Employment Defense Attorney
A well-regarded legal practice based in Encino, CA is currently seeking a driven and detail-oriented attorney with experience in civil litigation—preferably within the employment law arena—to join its growing defense team. This role provides the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment where initiative, critical thinking, and autonomy are valued. The associate will manage litigation matters from inception to resolution, contribute to strategic planning, and represent clients in employment-related disputes.
Represent business clients in disputes involving workplace-related legal claims
Manage all aspects of civil litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motions, and depositions
Participate in case strategy development and client advisement
Draft and argue pre-trial motions and handle case management conferences
Prepare for and assist with mediations, arbitrations, and trials
Conduct legal research and prepare opinion letters or memoranda as needed
Collaborate with partners and other attorneys in a team-focused setting
Maintain timely and accurate records of billable hours and client communications
Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing civil litigation
Familiarity with employment law or workplace defense cases preferred
Strong knowledge of California civil procedure and litigation rules
Demonstrated ability to manage case files independently
Effective oral advocacy and legal writing skills
Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school
Admission to the California State Bar in good standing
An active California Bar License required
Ability to think strategically and assess litigation risks
Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Organized, with attention to deadlines and detail
Comfortable working both autonomously and as part of a legal team
Proficiency in legal research tools and document management systems
