Professional Responsibility Attorney
The candidate will be a member of the Professional Responsibility Committee and serve with a team of lawyers as in-house legal counsel to the firm. Advise firm attorneys on conflict issues and facilitating the resolution of conflicts of interests. Counsel firm attorneys on a wide variety of ethical and professional issues. Review and approve new firm business to ensure accuracy and adherence with firm policies and procedures. Perform due diligence for all legal and lateral hires. Conduct ethics orientation for lateral and new attorneys. Review and develop policies and processes relating to legal ethics and loss prevention. Provide training on legal ethics, loss prevention and compliance with Firm policies. Monitor ethics opinions, the Rules of Professional Conduct and laws and other regulations governing the Firm and its lawyers. Review the firm's marketing materials for ethics compliance. Draft and review conflicts waivers, engagement letters and other client communications and documents to ensure compliance with ethical and professional standards. Review and provide advice on outside counsel guidelines. Advise lawyers on issues relating to bar admission, unauthorized practice of law, state registration requirements and continuing legal education compliance. Research and analyze legal malpractice issues and potential claims. Serve as a liaison with the firm's professional liability carrier. Work with the firm's General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel on legal matters for the firm. Assist with all other projects and special requests as needed. Juris Doctor and active license to practice law in the United States is required. Must have 4 years of experience with strong knowledge of legal ethics and loss prevention. Knowledge of Rules of Professional Conduct is needed.
